Working Mom with ADHD

When you want to quit but can’t

🧠 The Brutal Truth About ADHD Burnout (When You Have No Choice But to Keep Going)

Burnout with ADHD isn’t just “tired.”

It’s not fixed with a nap or a planner or a cup of coffee.

It’s the mental noise so loud you can’t think.

The physical heaviness that makes brushing your teeth feel like climbing a mountain.

The complete shutdown of your body and brain after spending all day masking, managing, pretending you’re okay.

It’s when you can’t stop—because if you do, your kid suffers.

Because no one else is coming.

Because the bills don’t wait.

Because “rest” isn’t an option.

I’m in that space now.

Trying to hold it together at a job that demands more than I can give.

Trying to build a future that isn’t so dependent on that job.

Trying to show up on TikTok, where I put my face and energy into content that gets ignored, while others doing the same thing get sales, followers, traction.

The rejection doesn’t just sting—it chips away at your will.

It makes you question your voice.

Makes you want to quit, even when you can’t.

Because quitting isn’t on the table.

My child depends on me.

There’s no safety net.

I don’t get to crash without consequences.

The real cost of ADHD

So no—I’m not quitting.

But I am acknowledging how hard this is.

How lonely and relentless and invisible it feels to keep showing up when the world doesn’t seem to notice.

This isn’t a blog post with a perfect list of 5 things that fixed me.

This is a space to say:

“I’m still here. Still trying. Still fighting the urge to give up.

Because my daughter deserves a version of me that didn’t fold.”

If that’s where you are too—you’re not alone.

We can’t always rest.

But we can be honest.

And sometimes, that’s the first step toward surviving another day.

If you’ve had days like this you’re in the right space. Drop me a comment and let me know what worked for you when you couldn’t quit.
